Boxes.

This is all about boxes.
Not in the literal sense.
I mean it figuratively.
Imagine a box around your person.
It represents the comfort zone.
Inside of this box you will find home.
You are rarely lost, and know everyone in town.
It's so comfortable.
Mom and dad are there, so is your best friend.
Your school is probably there too and all your favorite hang outs.
It really is the most pristine place to be.
Why take a gamble and step out when things are so good?
I think the question ought to be: why not?
Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to jump right out of that comfortable box.
I can't say the landing will be smooth when you do.
It's not the right decision for everyone to make.
But my oh my, it sure can be a wonderful one.
My jump has led to a quarter in Paris.
A journey I decided to take on my own.
I cannot begin to express the many emotions I feel.
Terribly frightened, yet entirely excited, and monumentally overwhelmed.
What an experience I have awaiting me,
all because I took that first step out of my box.
"LIFE BEGINS AT THE END OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE."

Soul Mates.

While reading Eat Pray Love today I stumbled across an excerpt that caught my attention from Liz's travels in India.  I happen to really appreciate Richard from Texas, and he happens to say some pretty great things.  So let me share a passage that rings heavily with truths about what a soul mate could be.  It's an interesting way to approach the topic that most people assume means "meant to be" forever.

"People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants.  But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that's holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.  A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake.  But to live with a soul mate forever?  Nah.  Too painful.  Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then they leave. "-Richard from Texas

Intriguing yes? This book is beyond wonderful from insights like this to inspiration in the form of self discovery and enlightenment.  I'd recommend it highly as a read that will put a smile on your face while you follow the story of a woman on a journey to re-find herself.  PS this book will also make you want to TRAVEL. Fair warning.

The Discovery.

Its funny the way things turn out sometimes.
I guess it's true, all great changes really are preceded by chaos.
In life, not everything is always what it seems.
However, we can trick ourselves into believing that everything is just fine.
Even when fine fails to describe how un healthy a situation can be.
This false descriptor ties into something I call, the difference between
loving someone and being in love with someone
Sometimes, it takes the other persons final actions to make you realize that you only loved them all along, and maybe you really weren't meant to be with one another.
Which then leads to something which recently struck me as so obvious that I can't believe I missed it all along.
Before we can truly give ourselves to someone, we have to be happy with who we are.
If you cannot make yourself happy, how can you make your significant other happy?
"We must be our own before we can be another's."-Ralph Waldo Emerson
It's as if I opened my eyes to a whole new world.
And I feel as if I owe a thank you in a way.
Something seemingly so terrible has led me in a pursuit of happiness.
A happiness that depends directly on myself.
If you ever get the chance to discover who you really are,
take it.
It will lead you on an amazing journey down the path of self discovery.

Destiny Defined.

Is destiny determined by chance or by choice?
This simple question offers no simple answer.
I guess the truth is, we will never know.
Maybe our destiny is determined by the choices we make,
or maybe fate is playing its hand in our lives.
In the end it comes down to what you choose to believe.
I happen to believe in fate.
Everything happens for a reason, whether we understand it or not.
Every experience leads us to our destiny, even if we fail to recognize it.
These experiences are not simply our choices, but chances we take.
A combination of the two.
With it comes uncertainty and fear.
Which is why I like to believe in something like fate.
What is life without such uncertainty?
Belief in fate allows me to appreciate the events that take place in my life,
and to know that everything that happens is meant to be (in life and love).
So, I ask again, is destiny determined by chance or by choice?
There is no wrong answer to this question.
What do you choose believe?

Vulnerability.

Giving your heart to someone is scary.
That feeling of immense vulnerability,
putting something so sensitive in the hands of someone else.
Giving your heart to someone is amazing.
There is nothing better than being in love,
and having someone by your side that cares deeply for you.
Giving your heart to someone isn't always easy.
The uncertainty of the matter is frightening.
But uncertainty is what makes life interesting.
Who knows what the outcomes of things will be.
Its important to give your heart in the now,
and enjoy every moment that you have with that person.
There's no use focusing on the things that scare you and leave you wondering.
When you're in love what matters are:
the never-ending conversations,
the butterflies you get with just one look,
the electricity of a passionate kiss,
the warmth of comfort you feel from a simple hug.

Throw your fears away.

Fall in love.

Take a chance, and don't look back.

Timing is everything.

I can't stop thinking.
I can't stop thinking about this.
I can't stop thinking about that.
I can't stop thinking about the way things play out.
I believe that whatever will be, will be.
I believe that everything happens for a reason.
I can usually hold to these beliefs,
but for the first time in a while,
I want things to work out.
I want my dreams to become reality.
It's one never-ending story.
Every time I go to turn a new page,
or start a new chapter,
I end up right back where I started.
I feel like certain things are truly meant to be.
There's something always drawing me back.
So here I sit again.
I was perfectly fine,
but now,
my head is reeling,
my heart starts racing,
and I get lost in memories, and distant dreams of what could be.
Dreams of what I want to be.
Timing really is everything isn't it?
Maybe it's the universe sending a sign,
but this really is something.
I can feel it.
Is it worth it to take a risk?
Is it worth it to take a chance,
to take it again?
While I sit and tell myself to stope thinking such absurdities,
I can't help but wonder as my mind wanders.
I guess you never know unless you try.
While I sit and wait for everything to play out,
I'll hold to my dreams,
but always remember in my heart that what is meant to be,
will simply be.

Truly. Madly. Deeply.

Things aren't always perfect.
Somehow, this makes life stunningly beautiful.
I feel perfection, absolute perfection, is an impossibility.
In a sense, it's completely subjective.
Perfection is in the eyes of the beholder.
I strive to be imperfect.
I like the little quirks I have, the awkward moments, and the ridiculous laughs.
My imperfections mold me into who I am.
Luckily,
I've managed to stay true to who I've always wanted to be.
I've watched so many people change right before my eyes,
and it makes me question whether or not I ever knew who they truly were...
I always question, but I never judge,
Another thing I fancy in myself and others.
I believe in withholding judgement.
I believe in offering an opinion and letting people make their own mistakes.
How else will they ever learn?
In addition, what was not right for you may be perfect for someone else.
Your mistake may be someones right move.
I believe in letting people decide what is right for themselves and being there for them, whether it falls together, or it falls apart.
I believe imperfection in all its beauty entails making mistakes.
I've definitely made more than my fair share,
all with a lesson to be learned.
Some lessons I've decided to ignore,
others I've understood right off the bat.
It's good to take the time to remember, that the person you are, is beautiful.
When you feel imperfect or make mistakes,
just remember,
you share that feeling with everyone in the world.
Embrace it.
Love your imperfections and learn from your mistakes.
You will only grow.
When you feel imperfect or make mistakes,
just remember,
you are beautiful,
and you are loved.
Never stop believing in yourself.

P.S. Here is one of my favorite quotes :)
